'07 Giant OCR 3

With the summer riding season finally upon us many of our customers are thinking about getting a new road bike, or are thinking about getting into the road bike market for the first time.  Whether you're looking to try out some duathlons or triathlons this summer, or want to race a criterium or time trial, or if you're simply looking to log some ling miles thru the city and on quite country roads, today's road bike bikes offer excellent quality and performance at extremely reasonable prices.

One of our favourite values in road cycling is the Giant OCR 3.  It has a good frame mated with components that offer most of the functionality of much higher priced stuff for a fraction of the top end price.  In fact, we have one '07 Giant OCR 3 left (size 58cm) that were selling for just $664 (reg. $830)!  For that price there's no reason not to get yourself a full-on road bike this summer.

Hygrade Commuters

At Olympia Cycle & Ski we sell a lot of bikes, and we've always prided ourselves in offering a wide range of options in order to satisfy  many customers with a variety of needs.  So what about the customer who wants to spend as little as possible to get a bike that they can ride around town, can lock up without the fear of a huge economic loss if the bike gets stolen, but who still wants a bike that is well-tuned, well set-up, and reliable?

Well, we think we may have found the answer...Hygrade Commuters.  No frills bikes that work well, built from new and used bits and pieces by the best local mechanics in the business, and sold to you at unbelievable prices.

Philosophy

There are various motivators to ride your bike, and most of us share more than one reason to ride.  Whether it's for the exercise, or it's to save a bunch of money compared to driving a car, or to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, or whatever, there are plenty of good reasons.

Reduced Footprint.  One reason to ride a bike that's getting plenty of attention these days is the extremely limited environmental impact that bikes have on our world.  To further try to reduce our footprint why not try to use bike parts that we have lying around instead of ordering brand new stock? If we've already got the parts than obviously no additional resources are going into the production of these bikes, they're not being shipped to us from a far away place, and so on.

A Second Lease on Life.  We don't want to get all sentimental or mystic on you here, but the bikes we ride often become personified as good friends to us, and it's always tough to see those friends reach the end of the road (literally), so it sure is great to pull bits and pieces of these lost souls together and create something 'new' that can enjoy life all over again.  Refurbishing used bikes and getting them back on the road just seems like the right thing to do.

Low Cost.  Listen, we ogle the latest, greatest, most expensive bike just as much as the next guy, and we love the feel of a world-class race worthy machine, but the truth is that that's not always what you need (as much as we often try to convince our spouses otherwise).  So, we've come up with a way to put together some bikes at a very low cost to the customer in order to get you on the road or trail with a bike that still gets the job done, and one you can trust.

So here's the deal

We're selling our Hygrade Commuters to you at pretty low prices (the average cost is $200 or less), and they're all at least somewhat used, so obviously we can't offer a warranty on them like we would offer on new bikes and components.

Also, as with any bike purchase at Olympia Cycle & Ski we'd be happy to swap a saddle, a stem, tires, etc. on your new purchase, but with new bike sales we usually allow swaps for free, whereas with most Hygrade Commuter pieces we'll have to charge for the difference in value between the used piece you're removing from the bike and the new piece we're replacing it with.  Trust us, it'll still be a great deal.

And with or without a warranty, keep in mind that your Hygrade Commuter was put together by the best mechanics in the business with great attention paid to detail.  The parts are all carefully looked over, thoroughly cleaned and tested, and the bikes are built up with the same care that is given to their much more expensive brethren.

All in all, it's a pretty good deal.  Come down to the shop today to see what we have in stock - Hygrade inventory is always changing and every bike is a one-off production so it's kinda hit and miss, but we might just have something for you.
